Our School Admissions Committee looks forward to providing you with friendly and efficient service when you enquire about or apply to our Kindergarten, Primary, or Secondary Programmes.
We welcome applications from eligible students of all nationalities, cultures, and educational and language backgrounds who share and support the YCIS philosophy, objectives, and values that shape our community. We understand international families need flexibility because of last-minute relocations throughout the year. We encourage you to contact Admissions directly to find out about placement availability. We offer many on-campus opportunities to help parents understand more about your child’s education journey at YCIS.
“Our daughter started her classes in August. She has already made many friends, and enjoys school. We are delighted that she has adjusted so well to the new environment. Thank you for your time in helping us get to know your school. We made the right choice.”
To be eligible to apply to an international school, families must submit a Hong Kong permanent identity card or foreign identification and other documents that meet the regulations of the Hong Kong SAR Government. For detailed eligibility information, please contact Admissions directly.
The year level and the programme placement of students at YCIS are based on several factors, including academic performance, English language proficiency, skills development, previous years of schooling, social development, date of birth, and learning needs. Please refer to our Age Placement Guide.
In addition to reviewing previous school records, admissions assessment might include a group or one-on-one interview, a written placement test, an additional assessment (for children with significant learning needs), and/or an online evaluation of English. After the assessment, the school will decide on the appropriate year level and programme for your child.
Our helpful Admissions Guide can be downloaded. It describes our assessment criteria by age level for prospective parents.
When reviewing applications and arranging classes, our goal is to maintain a multicultural environment and a balanced student community.
We admit students we believe will benefit positively from the educational programmes we provide at YCIS. To be accepted, students must be able to access the regular curriculum without the need for services beyond our Learning Support and other available programmes and services.
YCIS’s Admissions Office operates a waiting pool system. The school will watch for a suitable placement for your child. When a year level becomes full, we will maintain a waiting pool of approved applicants who have successfully passed interviews. Children with enrolled siblings at YCIS and children of alumni receive priority in the admissions process. Contact us for more information on international school admissions, registration, and more.
All YCIS schools operate under the same educational philosophy, pedagogy, and curriculum. We understand expatriate families sometimes need to be relocated around China, particularly to Hong Kong. Therefore, We have made it very convenient for enrolled students to transfer (without requiring the normal application process and fee) to any school within our network, including Hong Kong, Shanghai, Beijing, Chongqing, and Qingdao in China and Silicon Valley in the US.
These internal transfer applicants must meet the eligibility requirements of the local government where the school is located, and all internal transfer applicants will be assessed for admission and placement.
