    • The compulsory Co-Curricular Programme takes place on Wednesday afternoons for all YCIS–Secondary students. There are more than 40 Co-curricular activities (CCAs) currently on the list including a selection from sports, leisure and music. Students can try their hand at scriptwriting, photography, programming, yoga or cooking to name but a few. Joining a CCA is a great opportunity for students to learn new skills, make new friends, improve health and fitness levels and broaden their outlook far beyond the usual scope of classroom activities.

New CCAs are introduced each term depending on percieved demand and interest expressed by our students. For example this term, there is a new club at the recently opened trampoline fun park, Bounce. The energetic eight-week course led by trained professionals helps students keep fit and active and increases their flexibility and co-ordination. Another new CCA is the DJ Club. Aspiring DJs will learn how to create the best mixes using the latest technology, perfect their scratching skills and get some great career advice from professional DJs.

Teachers supervise the Co-curricular Programme (CCP) and take on the role of facilitators as students are encouraged to take ownership of their clubs. A great example of this is the Charity Club where students have set up a community-wide project called “Uniformity”. Its mission is to recycle old school uniforms, turning them into new marketable products and donating the proceeds from their sales to underprivileged children in Mainland China.

Character development is a particularly important component of our educational philosophy at YCIS. The CCP goes a long way towards helping our students achieve a well-rounded global education that also positively contributes to improving their overall mental and social health.
