YCIS students and staff were thrilled to welcome two 12-year-old exchange students, David and Ines from the Padre Damian School in Barcelona, Spain. The alliance evolved from the successful YCIS World Classroom programme, which provides once-in-a-lifetime trips to several countries, including Spain for our Year 7–9 students. It’s the first time that exchange students have visited the school as part of the World Classroom programme. This new component is proving to be a great addition to the programme as it helps to foster the development of long-term international school friendships.
David and Ines, with their teacher Mrs Santiago, attended a special welcome assembly hosted by our Lower Secondary students and teaching staff. This is their first visit to Hong Kong and the exciting 10-day trip includes a home-stay with our Year 8 families, lessons on campus and daily excursions to various iconic landmarks to absorb the rich Hong Kong culture.
YCIS’s Year 8 students will get the opportunity to meet with David and Ines again when they visit Barcelona in May.
The World Classroom Programme kicks off in March with a brand-new destination, Argentina as well as a return visit to Sri Lanka for our Year 9 students. Year 7 students will travel to the US in June.
