Congratulations to our Year 12 student Michael Tong for capturing the Gold medal at the Hong Kong Inter-School Chess Championships on February 19, 2017. 

Michael was crowned Board 2 Champion at this year's hotly fought chess competition which saw 29 schools in Hong Kong competing in Secondary and Primary divisions. There were four boards in total and YCIS sent one team to compete in the Secondary division. Our team members to rise up to this challenge and take on the best of the best across all schools in Hong Kong were:

Jonathan Yu (Year 8) - Board 1 - Ranked #23

Michael Tong (Year 12) - Board 2 - Ranked #1

Anson Chui (Year 12) - Board 3 - Ranked #8

Kim So Wan (Year 12) - Board 4 - Ranked #14

Our team came in at number 11 in the overall competition rankings out of 29 teams. Well done team!
